The Outstanding Maternity Award grows steadily, and this year marks a special milestone: our 10th anniversary.
For this special 2024 end-of-the-year season, one of the judges chosen was the renowned Italian photographer Donatella Nicolini, widely recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities in maternity photography – Her sensitive and refined perspective and vast experience brought even greater prestige to this 34th season.
Born in Milan, Donatella has transformed maternity photography into an art form celebrating feminine beauty and grace. Her unique style blends elegance with creative boldness, creating artistic and deeply emotional images.
Donatella’s excellence shines through her achievements, including winning “Maternity Photographer of the Year” (2020) and “Family Photographer of the Year” (2021) from the Society of Photographers in London. She was the first maternity photographer to become a Canon EMEA Ambassador and proudly represents leading brands like Profoto and Dreambooks Pro.
Donatella’s work has been featured in renowned publications such as Vanity Fair, Elle, Marie Claire, and Rolling Stone and exhibited at the Agora Art Gallery in New York. She shares her expertise as an educator and speaker at international photography conferences in cities including Buenos Aires, London, Lisbon, and St. Petersburg, inspiring photographers worldwide with her vision and creativity.
At the Outstanding Maternity Award, Donatella approached her judging role with the same rigour and passion that define her career. Dedicated to recognizing and valuing the work of fellow photography professionals, she emphasized the importance of celebrating motherhood. Season 34’s evaluation process was meticulous and inspiring, with results set to be announced on December 20 — an eagerly awaited moment for maternity photographers worldwide.
