Although I have photographed in 14 countries around the world, Japan has always held a special place in my plans. Here in Canada, I have the privilege of living among diverse cultures, and the Japanese people are incredible.
It is with this same spirit of admiration that I write today about this extraordinary photographer, Chiho Majima, whom we had the pleasure of inviting to join the judging panel for Season 39.
Chiho Majima is more than a brilliant photographer; she is a wonderful human being. Her gaze and her smile already say so much about her. From afar, we connected deeply, naturally reflecting the essence of the Outstanding Maternity Award, which has been cultivating this feeling for more than 10 years.

Based in Kamakura, Chiho Majima specializes in artistic and elegant photography of newborns, babies, and families. A notable transition marks her career path: after her graduation, she spent 25 years at an advertising agency, working prominently in radio and television.
In 2018, Chiho decided to channel her experienced eye into newborn photography. Since then, she has become widely recognized for creating refined, aesthetically beautiful poses, with the baby’s maximum safety always being the absolute priority.
Luxurious images define her portfolio, memories that preserve the emotion of precious moments. The excellence of her work led her to the position of Safety Ambassador for the Japan Newborn Photography Safety Association. Since 2022, she has shared this vast knowledge in the educational field through workshops and professional training programs for newborn and baby photographers, which has become a phenomenon, with spots constantly sold out and demand growing both in Japan and internationally.
